what HID system should i use to put it into a 01 civic. Should i keep the same headlight housings or change them? What is the solution for highbeams for these kits?

no results. I would think the housing are different from the previous generation civics and hence those posts would provide no results

you need to search for the bulb type used in your housings, which I believe is h4 just like the 92-00 civics. you can buy a HID kit for $300-??? that will have bulbs that fit your housings. if you get an OEM kit out of a TL or something like that you can buy an h4 to d2s/r converter metal thingy to mount the bulbs, or you can just hack up some h4 bulbs and take the rings off and glue them onto the d2s/r bulbs. you'll want d2r bulbs for your type of headlight housings. d2s is made for projector headlights.

thats what i was looking for, so you think h4 is the way to go? Has anyone here thrown them in an 01 or 02 civic?

H4 is your best bet if that is the kind of bulb that your housings accept. You can modify other bulbs to fit, but it would be a PITA. Are you doing this to look cool or functionality? Sylvania.com has a nice set of hid driving lights, they also have alot more info on HIDs.
