You can use an obd1 or obd2 tranny that is a b series trans. So it can be from a B18 or B16. I have a obd1 b16a and im using a obd2 b18c1 trans

basically the transimssion whether its hydro or cable depends on what chassis your putting it in. older civics (EF) use cable and the newer (EK) use hydro. now you can do a cable to hydro and vice versa with the proper kit. if you're looking for a hydro tranny i would go with a ITR so it has the LSD from the factory a brand new one from acura is like 1800 i believe. you could also build a b16 transmission by putting a aftermarket diff in it and while you're at it i would change out 5th gear and put in the 5th gear from from an integra LS if you do highway driving.
