check engine light is on showing codes for O2 sensors, seems to bog out at 4000rpm, there is two O2 sensors right? one for lower rpm and one for higher? im wondering if this would happen caused by a O2 sensor? dont know whats wrong and dont want to fix what isnt broken

yes and no. 2 O2 sensors, yes... but they are before and after the cat. and i think the boging at 4k is the computer going into limp mode, which can be caused by the O2 sensors... what are the exact codes you are getting?

I drove a 2000 HX for 185K and luckily never had to replace the O2 sensors.

They're (almost) laboratory-grade and cost (just checked South Bay Honda website):
Front (top): $500 list / $360 discount
Rear (bottom): $260 list / $187 discount
Good luck OP!

EDIT

BTW, I'm not saying the O2 sensors aren't bad - probably are. I'm just reminiscing about how expensive they were.

HX was a strange breed. They had big valves, a roller cam, laboratory-grade O2 sensors, and lightweight alloy rims - yet, Honda marketed it as an econo-box.

I remember racing ppl, and never getting out of 3rd gear - the final drive was so high. LoL!

Wish I could find a clean, low-mileage, 6-gen HX. I'd be tempted...

Okay, well I ran the code its a p1259 vtec code. I guess that should opt out the O2 sensors. And im going to go ahead and say its not 4k rpm when it cuts out anymore, its right when vtec kicks at 5200. Clean the screen inside the selonoid or replace it? I did just change the oil about a month ago.
