2000 Honda Civic EX Lights Flickering
The lights (headlights, interior lights, etc.) on my '00 Civic EX are flickering. The SRS light also comes on every now and then and stays on for a little bit and then goes off again. A lot of people that have had this problem have mentioned the SRS light coming on as well. I've taken it to a shop and they're very confused about the issue as well. The alternator seems to be in good working condition. All fuses are good. All grounds seem good. I've searched all over for solutions to this problem but can't find an answer anywhere. I found a video on YouTube of someone having the same problem as me, my car is doing the same thing as seen in this video:

What do you mean the alternator "seems" to be in working condition?

Re: 2000 Honda Civic EX Lights Flickering
I've put 10,000+ miles on the car since I bought it. Battery was replaced when I bought it. I don't think the alternator is bad because the car wouldn't have lasted this long with a bad alternator. Everything works as it should but the lights won't stop flickering. We noticed one odd thing when he had the multimeter hooked up... the voltage would drop from 14.5 to 8, 9 or even 10 for a second or two and go back to 14.5 when the lights were flickering. It mainly stayed around 14.5 though. It would only drop for a second or two every now and then.

As in removed and sanded? Possibly the regulator in the alternator is going bad.

No one on here knows the solution to this problem? :(

Re: 2000 Honda Civic EX Lights Flickering
The solution is to do some actual work. Pull the alternator and have it properly tested.

Re: 2000 Honda Civic EX Lights Flickering
I had this issue a few months ago. Steering column started smoking and I ended up OK the side of the road, having to individually rewrap every last wire behind my steering wheel. My issue has come back, and I think I may have to do it again.
Solution: take some stuff apart and find the wires that have melted together. The 00 is known for overheating wires eventually melting together. Fix it before it causes you to fork out some unnecessary money fixing collateral damage. |
