Y7 to z6 intake manifold question...
Ok, so I've got a 98 ex, that some fool put a y7 in after the y8 blew up. So my harness is the original y8 harness, I even had to move the AIT sensor when I got the car to get rid of my CEL. It has the matching ECU for the y7 in the car now. I have an entire auto z6 at my disposal, and I want to start by swapping my crappy y7 intake to the nicer z6. My question is... Does it matter that the z6 intake manifold I'll be using is in an automatic car??? My ex is a 5 speed.

No, the manifolds are the same, but for the sake of simplicity an automatic Y8 intake manifold and throttlebody is an easier swap since it's already set up for the 3 IACV the Y7 ecu looks for.

Re: Y7 to z6 intake manifold question...
Ok thanks, and yes I was going to go y8 bit I had this z6 just sitting here available to me, and my cars harness is already a 2 wire AIT because it's an ex and originally a y8 so I'm still running the y8 harness. I just had to extend the wires to run the AIT over to the back of the y7 intake to rid my CEL because whoever did the swap just left it dangling from the harness unhooked. Lol. I'm going to do my research but do most other sensors line up pretty well given my y8 harness to z6 intake?

I just read somewhere to use the y7 injectors, is this true? Why would you use y7 injectors with a z6 intake and fuel rail, why not just use z6 injectors?

Because z6 injectors are obd 1 and your harness is obd 2, the plugs are different, you can get adapters or I believe there is an extra tab notch you can shave off to make them fit
The should flow the same I believe most are 240

Re: Y7 to z6 intake manifold question...
I'm not sure if you meant IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor or IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) Y7 and Y8 IATs are both 2 wire. Y7 IACV (and automatic Y8) are 3 wire rotary. 5 speed Y8 and all OBD1 D-series, all B-series are 2 wire linear.
If you have a Y7 ECU you will need to convert to a 3 wire IACV or run something like an OBD1 P06 with a conversion harness (this will not pass emissions testing if that's an issue for you) converting to a 3 wire IACV involves getting the proper plug and adding the 3rd wire between it and the ECU, along with using a Y7 or automatic Y8 throttle body (If I remember correctly this also involves some work with a die grinder on either the TB or IM to get it to idle properly.
Yes, 5 speed Y8 and Z6 are very similar in terms of sensor placement.
Y7 injectors are 190CC. Z6 are 240CC, using 240CC injectors will cause the Y7 ECU to throw a fuel system too rich/too lean code. Plus the OBD1 injectors don't plug in.
