Default 2000 gsr swap with 1995 civic ex

i found a 1995 civic with a 2000 gsr swap, but it has the original ecu not the gsr ecu. what should i do either reprogram the ecu it has or buy a new one made for it? is it worth it at all.

Get the OBD1 P72 GSR ECU. Unless the motor is heavily modded, this is the best solution.

The car might run enough to get it home or something but I would chip the ecu just incase you decide to do some mods to it later on

^^he's running it on the original SOHC computer. not a P72. it says in his first post.
but NLFer, you can run the GSR on the stock ECU, but it will not run at full potential (VTEC is set too low, rev-limiter is too low, fuel/ignition maps are not right)
the ECU you have now if its the original is a "P28". this is a good ECU and is actually worth some money. but for now, do as the other guy said an grab an OBD1 - P72ECU.

when you checkout at karmaloop.com use REP CODE: SCOOP
Do not use the stock p28ecu/p07ecu that comes in the 95 civic. It'll run, but not right. Use the OEM GSR OBD1 p72 ecu should run fine. the only thing is you would be having check engine light for knock senor/map sensor (I forgot) .

You should just have a tuner in your area chip your ecu and load a gsr basemap. You will most likely need a obd2b to obd1 harness because the swap is a 2000 but that would be way better than a stock gsr ecu. That way if you decideto do more to it you will already have the chipped ecu you need to tune it.
