What do you mean by "bounces"?
When it dies, how long does it take for the car to start again?
How long does it take to die when it's sitting in idle?

You might want to replace your plugs and wires along with
that distributor cap. A lot of stuff like this is just simple
stuff that has been neglected.

when it dies it clicks for like 10 secs then starts again. and drives for 5 mins untill stalling again

could it be somthing like to much oil? or not enough or even bad oil?

Fuel pump could be on the verge of going bad. If not the fuel pump could be main relay, or ignition coil.

Things to do -
Check your oil.

Check your coolant level. Not just the reservoir. Look inside the
radiator too. Your coolant should be right at the top in your
radiator. Don't do this when the car is hot.

You're probably due for new plugs and wires anyways so you
might want replace them to get that out of the way.

Do you watch your temp gauge when driving?

It could be many things. But check that stuff and get it out
of the way.

When are you getting the swap, within a month, weeks, or days? ifreally soon like within months, just go with your swap. If you need to drive around now, i would suggest getting a tune up, when was time last time it got one, and how many mile are on the motor?

I dont think its your clutch, unless you are letting go of the pedal and not stepping on the gas. Do you have any CEL???

Okay then you probably dont have a CEL (Check Engine Light). Have you done anything the car, as in putting in mods and such?

Look into a recall on the ignition module for the 2000 civics.

http://www.internetautoguide.com/aut...vic/index.html

I know there was a recall for majority of the ex's because the ignition connections in the steering column become loose and the car can randomly turn off causing your car to "bounce" as you say because you are still in gear and the engine is no longer running. The car will start up again with no problems and will not throw a cel. But when you hit another bump or something the car will die again...

MAY 16, 2002 | Recall ID# 18275 Hide Details

Recall Reason ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH
Recall Date MAY 16, 2002
Model Affected CIVIC
Potential Units Affected 1000000

Recall Summary
ON CERTAIN SEDANS, COUPES, HATCHBACKS, AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, ELECTRICAL CONTACTS IN THE IGNITION SWITCH CAN DEGRADE DUE TO THE HIGH ELECTRICAL CURRENT PASSING THROUGH THE SWITCH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED.

Consequence
WORN CONTACTS COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JUNE 14, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009 OR ACURA AT 1-800-382-2238.
