2000 ex auto to manual swap, possible junkyard turbo
car: 2000 civic ex
engine: d16y8 i think
miles:67000
goals: 200-225whp, quick spool
First off im pretty new to working on cars, so my buddy is gonna help me with most of this, he has a lot more experience, but anyway
so i plan to swap my trans to make it a 5 speed manual, i already have a working y8 trans and most of the other parts. i also want to add some power possibly through a salvaged junkyard turbo.
first with the trans swap can i just get an ecu i will need for the turbo and install that now
so if i go through the junk yard route what turbos would be the best match, also what else would i need, im not against purchasing other parts new like a BOV,
or should i just look for a used ar new greddy which seems to be a popular quick spooling kit.
would it be better to get a new IC with the junkyard, or is a junkyard one fine, can a junkyard IC be used for a purchased kit turbo efficiently.
also i plan to do some more down the road but keep it a sleeper, is there an exhaust system the will look fairly stock but more importantly quiet or at least none of that tinny sound.
