2000 EM1 problem..
Yeah so I have a 2000 EM1 and just recently i have noticed something really weird. I can be in 5th or 4th gear and sometimes once i am fullly in the gear if i floor it and its in 5th gear around 40 MPH the RPMs jump up to like 6000 stay there and then kinda fall back down...like it sounds weird they just jump high as **** then stay for a second then come back down and kinda get back where they are supposed to be....I think it might be a slipping clutch i asked around most said yes some said no...can anyone give me a clear answer here?
thanks
thanks

It can be the way your control your clutch, depends on the driver but do you let off the gas when you shift? and do your give it gas before you let the clutch out into a gear?

Thats my friend...No he has a stock clutch and its when he is just cruising not when he shifts. He will be driving in a gear and floors it and the RPMs just jump up from like 2.5 to almost 5.5 or 6 even maby.

Why not just boost it? Is something wrong with the motor? I'd put a b16 in the hatch anyways, but leabe the b16 in the si and boost it if it's ok. You'll probably save money if you're planning putting a b20/b18/h22 in the em1.

Re: 2000 EM1 problem.. (ek forever guy)
I want to boost it but its got a *** of miles ...96k... its a great motor pulls hard as ****, i pulled a gsr (usdm) swaped EM1 in my car. so what I am doing is gunna swap a K20a into the EM1 just because i want a nice new clean motor in with a decent amount of power. then when I get the b16 in the eg hatch i will tinker with that since that will more than likley be my daily

I my stock clutch was slipping in 3rd after 50K. I changed to an Exedy Organic Race and My car now has 145K and it has seen boost for almost 2 years, Spray, track torture, etc. When the motor last came out, the clutch still looked brand new.
