I posted this earlier in another form but i was mistaken maybe i am in the right spot now. Lol. 2000 civic dx with a jdm type r swap and a p73-003 ecu and as best I can tell using jumper harness. I purchased the car this way and don't really know much else. I am getting a code 23. But if I have research properly the jdm engine doesn't have the knock sensor. So my question is does that mean that the ecu is a usdm model? I thought that the US cars came with the p72 ecu. If someone could clear this up for me I would greatly appreciate it. It might help me figure out my other codes as well. Thanks

P72 is GSR. P73 is ITR. Yes, you have a USDM ECU.

All ITR engines come with a knock sensor... USDM and JDM. Obviously, the first step would be to check under the middle of the intake manifold on the back of the block to see if there is a knock sensor... and is there a single wire plugged in to it. If it is plugged in, you need to trace the wire back to the ECU and check continuity... if no wire exists, you will need to run one. If this passes the test, take a closer look at the knock sensor and make sure it hasn't been damaged in the past and glued back together. If it has, replace the knock sensor.

Thanks for the reply. Yes there is a sensor mounted there. I was a little confused as to what it might be. I guess I didn't understand that I had an itr engine. Either way I will check it out.
