2000 civic wont start!

2000 civic wont start!
I have a 2000 civic dx which i just swapped the head for a vtec one. everything looks like its fine it cranks over and everything, fuel is getting there but the spark plug wires are not sparking, does the distributor need to be adjusted/timed? if so how do i do that? could there be any other problems? i also have nology plug wires which were for a nonvtec motor, does that have anything to do with it? please let me know. thanks

I replaced the timing belt so i was wondering maybe if that would be an issue, and i wasnt sure if the distributor rotor has to be set at a certain spot. please let me know thanks.

I was reading up and people are saying maybe to turn the distributor 180 degrees....is that a posibility? its turning over but i have no spark from the dizzy

umm i don't think you should turn it 180 degrees, get a timing light and see if its off. and check the wires, or just replace them if there old

I also still have the dx ecu in the car, i do have the ex ecu but i was gonna swap that in ounce i wire up the car for vtec. could that be the problem? are the timing of the computers or fuel maps an issue? thanks so far

well check your ignition timing or have someone else do it. and make sure the wires are sending a spark. when was the last time you gave it a tune up (plugs, wires, rotor etc...)?

regardless of ecu it should still start. just won't run very well with the y7. ex ecu will be looking for a knock sensor and different IACV, oh and vtec

what is a iacv? where can i get one and is it easy to install?
Can i just replace the current iacv for the dx with this one and have everything sloved?

idle air control valve, you have one. if you also swapped intake maniflods you should have it on there. y7 and y8 iacv's are differnt, ones a 2 wire and ones a 3 wire, i forget which one right now though

I know that but im saying i am still using the y7 intake mainfold and everything, do i need to go out and buy a iacv that is made for a vtec? also ill it just swap out for the one in there now or do they bolt up differently? I need to take one problem at a time but i can drive it and start it up using the nonvtec ecu? i just wont have vtec?

it might not run very well and you have a check engine light on. you mind as well get an ex maifold if you can. i'm not exactly sure about the iacv, so a search, its been done before, i think it requires a slight mod to the wiring harness to make the ex iacv work.

first off, you should check your timing forget about all the other bullshit... make sure the timing marks are right on and that the distributor rotor lines up to number one spark plug wire. then go from there... it should still start up with either ecu VTECH OR NOT... just make sure timing marks all lined up correctly and distributor...let us know what happens.

i have the alternator, power steering, and ac pump belt currently off. (had to replace the timing belt) will that affect it to start up?

the alternator/powersteering etc... doesn't matter it should still start if you have the timing set right, the alternator fuse if its bad it just won't be charging after it starts, just make sure you got good power to the battery the timing marks are set right (distributor too) all sensors plugged in and crank it away...

Ok. So you aren't getting ANY spark whatsoever? Did you pull a plug out and put it in a wire and ground it to the motor while it was cranking over to find this out? You should still get a spark even if the timing is off I thought. Have you by chance thought about the ignition control module? When they go bad they cause a no spark condition.
