2000 civic tranny problem. (automatic)
ok well my sister and her boyfriend were driving down to our house last night for x-mas. they called us and said the car started like jolting kinda harsh, neither one of them knows anything about cars so i was asking them questions to try to figure it out. well i told him to start it and try to drive a couple feet, it started fine and drove for a couple feet then made a grinding sound and he said thats the sound it made right before they stopped. this morning my sister said AAA told them it had little to no tranny fluid, my sister said it smells burnt.
so my question is if they stopped pretty much imediately do you think just refilling it with the correct fluid would make it salvageable or will they need to get it repaired/replaced? TIA
