2000 civic stalling intermittenly...
i bought a 2000 honda civic lx about 2 months ago and it was riding beautifully, then maybe a 3 weeks ago the CEL came on and the code was a p420 or somethin close which came up as the catalytic converter, i got some advice and was told not to worry about it now since the car had just been smogged for the sale, welll all of a sudden when pulling into traffic the car stalled just a bit, and when i'm stopped at a red light it will stall slightly, feels almost like the car is shifting gears or somethin, ive figured out that it stalls when i accelerate quickly (pulling into traffic) or when not in motion at all, even when im in Park. It drives perfect if im on highway or if i accelerate slowly...any thoughts on what this could be??? ive been hearing lots of things from different mechanics, (get a new catalytic converter, clean the throttle body, its probably the O2 sensor, get a tuneup....etc)
i figure someone here can point me in the right direction, please help!?! any input is appreciated

I'm kind of a noob at this stuff but can you tell if its running rich? Like strong gasoline smell coming from exhaust when its running?

could be clogged injectors and/or bad fuel filter. My car used to do this sometimes, i put in Techron (you can buy this by itself) and I got a new fuel filter and it went away. It never stalled on accel tho, it used to feel like it was gonna stall when I was at a light sometimes.
