2000 Civic Si-What's it worth?
It's time for me to move on to AWD and turboed things. WRXs to be exact. So I'm trying to sell my car but I am having trouble figuring out what it's worth.
Sorry to ask this kind of question but the resale on 00 Si seems to vary a lot.
It's a MR 2000 Si with 53,000 miles.
The only mods are Ground Controls with Tokico Blues, an AEM CAI, Rota Grids with Kumho Ecsta 712s, and ITR 22mm rear swaybar. And the windows are tinted if that matters. It has a clean title history. The paint and body of the car is in good condition, just a few minor dings and scratches that are unavoidable in everyday driving. The interior is flawless except for typical wear on the driver side floor mat but its very minor.
KBB says about $12,000 for private party value and I am in the midwest/south(Arkansas, whatever that is considered). Any help is appreciated. Thanks

they are crazy, there are some peeps around here wanting like 15,800 stock milano red with 50k miles.
The dealerships around here sell them for 16, they took the above after months of trying to sell and gave them like 13k trade in.... I was like :jawdrop:
I'd prolly trade mine in after I took the mods off.

I'd be happy with the A4. Good choice. I was considering a used S4 but they're too hard to find and I worried about maintenance cost. So I'm going with the WRX. I didn't realize Si held there value so well. That would be awesome if I could get that much for mine.

Hmmm...maybe I should see what the dealer will give me. I just assumed they would rob me so I haven't even asked what trade-in would be.

they will rob you for a modded si, get it as much back to stock as possible
i.e. lose the CAI, leave the suspension on if you didn't keep the springs, and just raise it back up, and put the stock wheels back on

There are not very many here and the Ricer Movement is in full swing so I know these cars are in demand. Sounds like I could easily get $12,500 or $13,000 out of the car. I would hate to see the car around town all riced out though, that would make me really sad.
I am putting the car back to stock as much as I can.
I actually have Koni Yellows with Eibach springs but a friend of mine wants those so he is giving me his suspension which is the GC with Tokico blues. Come to think of it, he should have the stock springs and shocks. I have a Mugen Twinloop that another friend of mine has claimed so the stock exhaust goes back on. I have the Si wheels that have brand new Azenis on them which I was planning to sell seperate but I guess I could sell the Rotas seperate. I was going to leave the ITR swaybar on since I had to drill holes into the subframe for the beaks kit. I already put the stock airbox back on and the AEM CAI has just been sitting in the garage. I never could(or really tried) to sell it.

Just sold mine for 14,500 CAN. That's about 11,400 US. And that was a DIFFICULT sell. Car was on the market for months. My original asking price was 18,900.... that's how much I had to keep dropping it.

I think an engine swap on that type of car reduces the value some.

Re: (BagelW)
I would agree, I dont know understand the reasoning unless whoever had it:
1) Blew up the engine
2) Salvage, etc.
There are too many intangibles for the reasoning and I dont think "torque" is a good enough answer.

Re: (mjrage)
I was just saying from a dealers point of view, a different engine would lower my trade in value for sure. If I was selling it privately, then someone might find interest in a swap.

Re: 2000 Civic Si-What's it worth? (BagelW)
Yeah it really depends on your area. Locally here their still going for 15-ish too depending on condition. Just pick up your local auto trader and see what others are asking.

Re: 2000 Civic Si-What's it worth? (Unsung EM1)
Damn! That's how much they sell for now! If someone wants to buy a n/a Si with 47k, i/h/e, skunk 2 coilovers, tokico blues, rota slips, and c/f hood and mirrors (fiber images and apr), make an offer. Reasonable offers only! Holla. McDonald's Big and Tasty for a dollar.

Re: 2000 Civic Si-What's it worth? (00Si-R)
BagelW, I think you can get at least $13k for your SI. I'd start higher at like $14.5k and then you can always go lower. As you mentioned, turn her completely stock. IMO Milano red SIs are rare. I hardly ever see them in my area. It's always the stunna blue pearl and black SIs that I always see.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: 2000 Civic Si-What's it worth? (00MRSi)
Well I guess I'll see if I can get $14000 for it. SIs are rare in my area. There are probably only about 25 - 30 of them and most of them are blue or black. The autotrader here is mostly trucks and SUVs since that is about 80% of what people drive around here. That is why I'm having trouble on what price to ask. There are none here to compare it with. So I guess that could be a good thing.

Try other avenues; Honda-Tech and ClubSi tend to have overly aggresive ricers and Asians with something to prove. Post to your local newspaper or auto trading classified. Might want to try autotrader.com, Yahoo, Carpoint, or other more "mainstream" avenues. Return the car to stock, too...

Honda-Tech??? I could see that with Club Si but one of the reasons I'm on Honda-Tech is because of the lack of rice.
