2000 Civic Si Transmission..does it have Limited Slip Differential (LSD)????
I bought a EG civic with an LS Motor and 2000 Civic Si transmission...what kind of differential do you guys think it has? yeah yeah..i've tried searching for a few minutes..back up on the flames...
I can call the original owner in the next few days and ask..but i'm trying to get an idea what upgrades i will do right away (exedy clutch and flywheel are first thing, so it should make it easy to get to the diff at same time

Not enough power and not enough traction. Go to the track and if you hook up good and have more power, the diff is the 1st thing to give and will put all the power to the wheel with the least traction and cause it to go up in smoke.

yep...and it has a 4.4 Final drive, nearly identical to the USDM ITR w/out the LSD...I learned that the hard way

Some have a 4.26 fd, some have a 4.4. There were a couple parts on the 99-00 SIs that varied in size and performance it seems..

Re: (EGtoDC2)
by the way..i don't have lsdiff.
well, while i'm getting clutch replaced i might as well get a differential. ANybody got a preference in aftermarket differentials? no kits that bracket the stock spider gears..performance such as quaife or kaaz..?

Oddly enough, Bauley, I was looking at an old post of Tom's about the S4C gearing - apparently some people have taken apart their S4C transmissions only to find a 4.266:1 FD, while others have taken theirs apart to find a 4.400:1 FD.
There is also a debate on whether or not the part number for the EM1 Si final drive matches the part number for the Integra LS FD, or the del Sol VTEC FD. I have yet to check on this at the dealership.
So as it may be, I could be wrong about the gearing for at least some of the EM1s out there.

I prefer the Torsen gear-operated diffs (i.e. OEM Type-R, Quaife ATB) over the clutch-type (i.e. Kaaz, Spoon, Mugen), because the clutch diffs require special oil plus they will wear out every so often, requiring a new clutch pack.
Not to mention, Quaifes are cheaper.

Re: (Targa250R)
is quaife streetable? is it more or less force reduction (horsepower robber) than stock open differential? i'll probably get the s80 HELICAL limited slip differential..i'm not planning on running the car on autocross, just delivering rice (chinese food

Interesting. It's probably a situation like the CX pistons. Some have indentations for 8 valves, some have indentations for 16 valves...
