2000 civic Si starting problem
ok my car has been having some starting issues, and sometimes it acts like it wants to start but it makes some aweful growling noise from the intake then puffs out blue smoke now it doesnt do this everytime only sometimes and it started here recently. ive changed plugs, plug wires, main relay, oil, dizzy cap, dizzy coil, and still nothing has worked. my car throws codes for a o2 sensor and a iacv code. before all this started i noticed it had a slight miss fire or hesitation when you would start out in first gear or when you shift into second gear. ive checked dizzy timing and t-belt timing and there both spot on. i am lost and confused on what else to do. any input would help.

at what rpm does it idle? i have heard this growling noise in an intake when idle drops so low that the engine dies, if idle is running really low your o2 readings will not be accurate, but your iacv code sounds like a dead give away to start there, pull off the iacv and clean it with some throttle cleaner or b12, see if it runs a little better for a bit, more details would be good as well, does the car run and idle well with good power during normal operation, and when you checked timing belt timing did you actually pull the timing covers and check how much slack is in the belt?

yes i pulled the t=belt cover off and valve cover and checked to see if it is on tdc on cylinder 1. the belt is in perfect tension and timing is perfect, when it makes the noise it idles at 450 to 500 rpms. when it does actually crank in run good it has a slight miss fire when you give it gas. it will idle at 800 to 900 rpms. i think the cps may be bad. im going to replace it and go from there.
