195/55/15 is the correct size, which won't change your speedo reading. That's the size I'm currently running. If you want to go wider the correct size would be 205/50/15, used to have that size before.

^^

very helpful

It would be helpful to know what car you drive. I'm assuming 92-00 civic.

I have been searching for that site for a good few hours! Thanks!

I am actually driving a 1994 Integra...Just figured that this would be the better place to ask about the SI rims.

205 /50 /15 is best IMO, but 195/55/15 is OEM, and cool too...

Ok, Seems 205/50R15 is the tire to go with...

Anyone have any recommendation on where to get some GREAT deals on tires? (Would prefer a Summer tire, or aggressive seasonal tire)

Just got some tires for my DD at Pep Boys, they have a sale on tires by 3 get 1 free. You have to mail in a rebate. Got some all season Hankook Optimos for 59 a piece and 70k mile tread life.

I just bought a summer set for my civic at www.tirerack.com
This is my third set that I got from them, 2 for my wrx, goodyear eagle F1 GSD3 (summer), and michelins for winter. IMO, great deals, tire selection...

For the civic I got general exclaim UHP (high performance summer), I'm happy so far, and the price was 64$ each, total 270 for 4. Its a budget performance tire. I always pick up from their southbend, IN location since I'm only 70 miles away. Shipping for 4 tires isn't expensive either, like 40 for all 4.

here's a link to the tires I got for my civic, in the size you're looking for, good price. I was going to go with 205/50/15 but decided on 195's.

912's are nothing more than sporty All seasons. If thats what you want then go ahead and get em.
Im thinking of getting them for my girl's car.

I got BFG's T/A KDW's. ****ing awesome tire. Lots of road noise but I dont give a ****.. They sticky and thats all I care about.

But for Si's, get 195/55/15. 205/55/15 looks funny since the rim isnt fat enough.

Here's the other "summer" tires they have in the 205/50/15 size. They range from high performanc, ultra-high to extreme.

i have 205-50-15 on mine.. imo 205 is better cuz the walls stick out a bit and "protects" the rim from any curbs or scratches or what not. i also have falken 912's... theyre alright. not the best but definately not the worst either. they suck in the rain... but for the price i paid for the tires, best bang for my buck.

195/55/15 is the OEM size, but IMO it's too fat. When I bought my EM1 it came with 195/60/15 for some reason and that was way, way too fat. These wheels aren't very wide, so I'd recommend 195/50/15.

I've been using Falken Ziex 912 for a while...great tires for the price. Not as much grip as the Azenis in the corners, but closer in a straight line and much, much better in any sort of adverse weather conditions. Not to mention a much longer lasting treadwear. They're great on a budget but if you have more money to spend, you can find a much nicer tire.

Wow, the above posts just blindly recommend a size, without regard to car model. That's misleading and inaccurate. The best size depends on what car they are used on, not on the rims. And this forum covers the '92-2000 Civic and del sol, cars that came with quite a variety of tire sizes.

What's the best size? It's one whose outer diameter matches the outer diameter of the stock tire size. That prevents rubbing and maintains the accuracy of the speedometer and odometer.

Here are the best sizes for cars covered in this forum:

a) If you have a '92-95 Civic, a '96 Civic DX (sedan or coupe), a '96 Civic hatchback, a del sol (base model), or a del sol Si, then the best 15" size is 195/50-15.

b) If you have a '97-00 Civic, a '96 Civic that is neither a DX or a hatchback, or a del sol VTEC, then the best 15" size is 195/55-15 or 205/50-15. Either size will work fine on all of those models.

Not only is that too big, you're wrong about tire availability too. There are lots of great tires available in all of the above sizes!

Here are the best, reasonably-priced tires for 15" wheels on your car, depending on how you use your car; see above to determine whether you should be using (a) 195/50-15 or (b) 195/55-15 or 205/50-15.

If you want a supersticky summer tire because you sometimes take your car to autocross or track events or you otherwise drive it briskly, and you don't mind spending a little more ($80-120) for a tire that won't last all that long (15-20K miles):

a) Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 195/50-15, Toyo R1R 195/50-15
b) Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec 195/55-15, Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 205/50-15, Kumho Ecsta XS 205/50-15, Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 205/50-15

If you want a summer tire that lasts longer (25-40K miles) and isn't as expensive ($60-70) as the previous group:

a) Yokohama S.drive 195/50-15, Fuzion ZRi 195/50-15
b) Yokohama S.drive 195/55-15 or 205/50-15 (195/55 is cheaper), Fuzion ZRi 205/50-15

If you want all-season tires, either because you need to use them occasionally in snow and frigid cold, or because you want the extra treadlife (35-60K):

a) Falken Ziex ZE-912 195/50-15
b) Goodyear Eagle GT 195/55-15, Kumho Ecsta ASX 195/55-15 or 205/50-15

Where to buy? Tire Rack and Discount Tire Direct are usually among the cheapest places to buy tires. When comparing tire prices, remember to take into account all possible charges: shipping (free at DTD and at local dealers), sales tax (usually free at internet sites), and mounting/balancing (sometimes free at local dealers when you buy the tires there).

I doubt it. The only tires available in that size are really crappy. And don't make the mistake of thinking that the tread width makes a big difference to performance; it doesn't. What really matters is the make/model of tire, as reflected in its compound and tread pattern. So a stickier 205/50-15 tire is ALWAYS going to give you better performance than a less sticky 215/50-15 tire.
