2000 civic si not charging alternater
hello i have had a recent problem with my car started about 2 weeks ago to were im driving and all of the sudden my interior light started dimming and a couple times i smelled smoke.. at the time of the lights flickering. well two days ago i was driving home and noticed my car was smoking from the front driver side of dash and i started to take off the speedometer and could smell a burning smell so i pulled the whole dash off i found a wire that was getting burned it was black with a white line and i followed it and one end led all the way to the rear of the fuse box and the other end hooked up with 2 other wires also black a white line... i completely cut the wire and the car started fine and all. so i cut the wire again all the way to the fuse box and cut and tapped the remain part of the wire that was not burned i need a diagram for this or need to find out that this wire was for. sorry for making this so long but i also have more info.. anyways i think this has possibly be caused by my 02 sensor plug which was touching the headers and caused it to melt while all this was happening i cut the end off and tapped it. i also had checked fuse 15... and it was completely melted but the fuse was still making current i replaced it with a new one for now and has worked fine. could anybody have a idea what that "black and white wire is for" i could send pics of were the wire leads to. thanks alot!

that has to be it! that wire was melting the plug on c421 is were the melting wire lead to! so it probably got fried due to the o2 sensor getting melted and grounding off on the header?

It sounds like it. The fuse should have blown, but it sounds like it malfunctioned and melted and let current continue running through the wire until it overheated it.

I'm not sure what the wire gauge is, I would guess at it being around 18-20g.
If the existing wires coating is burnt through anywhere (I cant tell exactly from the pics- but it looks like it completely melted ALL the plastic housing off in that short length)) I would suggest replacing the entire length of the wire. You should also check wires it was bundled up with if the housing was melted off, its likely it could have damaged others it was tied to.
