2000 civic si LS-Vtec questions????
just got done with my wifes ls-vtec in her 2000 civic si and i am having a few problems and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.
first off i know the header is unattached from the cat and i will get no down stream o2 reading but i have a few more problems and will list them below.
1 when the car started it idled at around 3500 down to 1000 not sure why???
2 i am using a gsr intake manifold and throttle body and the si throttle cable is too long i guess what would be the easiest way to fix that?
3 the shift linkage is extremely lose when it is in gear it moves way to much it is the 2000 civic si linkage and a gsr trannie. what could that be?
if there is any more info you need to know let me know and also thanks for looking and thanks in advance for any info.

Are you running a B18c1 head?
What ECU are you using?

Try torqueing the bolt that connects the shifter to the linkage a little tighter? If that doesn't work then you might need new shift linkage bushings. ES makes a kit for like $15-$20.

theres a few people i know that made custom brackets its really not to hard. that bushing kit for the shift linkage is a good upgrade whether you need it or not i would definatly recomend.

ordered the shifter bushings already and i was think of extending the throttle bracket what would be the easiest way to do it.
thanks

Why would you use a GSR manifold, when the B16A has a manifold very similar to a Type-R? Better yet, why even do an LS-VTEC swap on a car that already has a DOHC VTEC engine? Unless you have a Canadian Si, which are the same as USDM EX Civics. . . . just curious, seems like an awful lot of work. . . .

this guy lol ^
haha, dont you know that a b16 intake manifold wont fit on a gsr head, b16 mani similar maybe but does not flow as well which doesnt matter because he has a gsr head, why do an lsvtec swap? maybe because of the bigger displacement longer stroke which is more cheap power and he will have a nicer torquey motor when its done. its worth doing if he wants to go faster or his wife
to the OP hope your using the gsr cams also from that head there slightly better then the b16 cams. if not i got some itr cams for you
youll be happy with the bushings the bitch pin might help too, see what the bushings do first though. good luck

dude take some midol and relax a little i got the car as a shell with no engine and this was the most cost effective way to get a fun and different civic si for my wife.
and and once again the b16 manifold doesn't work on the gsr head.
and yes it has been alot of work but that is where the fun in building a project comes in, doing something yourself and not paying some one to do it no matter how long it takes.
and to everyone that has put in constructive input thank you.

I agree. I didn't know the car was a shell, and it struck me funny as to why you would change out the engine. Anyways, have fun with the car.

you can score throttle cables on the cheap ($15 - $20). i would give the GSR throttle cable a try or just work on bending/fabricating a new throttle cable bracket on the IM.
