Yeah, for SI's, the "Leather" was "dealer optional" and were custom made outside of Honda. They are pretty rare and pricey when they do come along. I had a set in my SI, but changed the fronts for some "bling".

the cheapest option would be to go with something like katskinz leather. they will embroider whatever you want onto the seat. they are just a reappolstery of your factory seats

Dealer option is not the same as "factory" option. Si's never left Honda with leather. They were done by third parties through the dealer. Dealers typically had contracts with local shops.
A good friend of mine did quite a few at the stereo shop he worked at for the local Honda dealer. The dealer would supply the kit and they would just do the labor.

Yes to reiterate the point there were NO 96-00 Civics, in any trim level, that came from the FACTORY with leather seats.
"From the factory" means just that - as it rolled off the assembly line and was loaded onto the transfer trucks BEFORE it ever made it to a Honda dealership.
Dealerships have been known to install all kinds of options from pinstripes, leather seats, power moon/sun roofs, different wheels, spoilers, chin spoiler kits, etc. etc.
Leather seating is definately one of these "options" and yes it can look very OE including the door insertes, etc.
My personal opinion?
I hate 99-00 Si seats. They have the lateral support of a park bench, and if done in leather I can see myself sliding completely off the seat while driving. I much prefer 94-01 Integra seats (cloth) and these WERE offered in true factory leather in the GSR-L, GS-L, and SE models. I'd go that route *if* I wanted leather seats. The Integra rears don't fit well/at all so I'd just get the factory rear seats reskinned to match the fronts.

I personally love the leather gsr's, i have a pair of del sol seats in my eg and I love them. If your going for leather, and you want true oem, go gsr leather. my buddy has a pair in his civic and they are smooth.
