2000 civic si help!!!!!!!!
ok i bought a 2000 civic si today from a repo auction so i dont know much about it.. first off the motor is in the trunk of the car. i noticed it is a b18 block which is not correct.. the head is there and i didnt look at it to well but it looked ok. now what i want to know is what b16 motors will fit in the car without modifications? such as rewiring.. would it be easier to use the b18 block and put a b16 head on it. i have some knowledge to this. i put a b16 in a crx once but that was a couple years ago so i need some help.

sell the engine you have and buy a 00 b16 if you want the stock effect other wise slap a b16 head on your b18 block( which is it a b18c block or b18b?) as for trannys look at the stamping !

If I were in your shoes I would Keep the B18 block and throw the B16 head on it. I found you get a much faster rev and poss. a little more power off the line. Also be sure to use B18 head bolts, ( they are longer) because when I did the swap I accidently used B16 bolts and stripped the holes in my block. As for the LS tranny look for the stamp on the side.

make sure you look over the head thuroughly though, dont forget to check cams and **** like that, wouldnt want to ruin a motor that might not have been fucked up in the first place... but yeah go with the b18 block and keep the head if its in good enough condition.

ok the block is a b18a1, and the head says pr3-2. the head is scared from the cams and i took it to my shop and they said they couldnt fix it. looks like it was due to lack of oil. what setup is this?

PR3-2 sounds like a B16 head. I want to make sure though, but I believe I was seeing this all over my head when I was doing my rebuild. That sucks that it is damaged. Look at the exhaust manifold side. You'll see 4 circles with numbers in them. This tells you the year and stuff. Can't remember what means what though. Good luck with your project.

if you want a stock motor for an em1 it would be a b16a2. the head should be an si head from the pr3 stamping your talking about. does it have a transmission and wiring harnes. if it does just buy a b16a2 longblock and call it a day.

what block is it? b18a/b b18c?
it shouldnt starve the head for oil the oil pump may be bad in the block. just for simplicity i would buy the longblock and call it a day sence the block is unknown.

I remember a company making an engine called "The Beast". Didn't they use a B18 block and B16 head... **** that thing was rated at 297 horses or somthing.
If the head and block are good... I'd shoot for a Beast Replica!!

ditch the block its an obd1 ls. it means its old as hell. just get a b16a2 longblock and call it a day. you can do the b18a1 but it will need to be rebuilt from the sounds of it. basicaly if the head is crap i bet the block is to.
