2000 civic si engine swap question

hey, i want to swap a motor into my 2000 si because someone i talked to told me it would cost me like 5-10 grand to get the horsepower i wanted so i figured i would just do an engine swap but i have no idea what motors would work. i really want to know if the h22 works because i have a friend with one he isnt swapping so it sits in his garage so please if that or any engine that has more than 180hp cause i dont want to pay 3500+ to get an engine that only has 10 extra hp. so let me know about that h22

What is your HP goal? If you are already willing to spend $3500+, then why not just boost your b16?

Well, that someone you talked to was an idiot. For the cost of a swap you could easily push 180whp or more on the B16. Do some research, you could make a lot more power just by using some Type R parts. And if you do the swap, sell me your B16 so I can at least have a backup, should I ever need it. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

i would say stay with your b16a engine and tranny..if u want to go with b18c..go with b18c5 ITR swap...or boost your b16a

Re: 2000 civic si engine swap question (crazyguy)

Don't overlook the B18C1... almost as good as the R NA but even more reliable with boost should you go that route. Both are overinflated in price but the R is stratospheric even for a 11-12 year old design. The C1 will save you more than $1200 right off the bat.

Re: 2000 civic si engine swap question (jrap1243)

i would have to say im looking for between 180-200 whp 180 at the least. i dont have alot of knowlage about car parts in regards to mods to the b16a2. so if you could give me an idea of what types of mods i could do taht would be great or even places where i can go to do research as well. my friend's h22 is used and hes my friend so he isnt going to have me pay 3500 but if you could give me some mods that would be equivalent to about 2000-2500 all together that would be great. any help you guys can give would be great. the other thing would be even if i have 180-200whp how much of a torque gain would i get with the mods because im sure you guys know my car only has 111 torque right now so like i said any mod lists and help would be great ^_^ thanks everyone i really appreciate all your help

you should be able to get at least 250 whp off your b16 if you get the right setup and it shouldnt be too expensive.

if you want to turbo, dont waste money on bolt on's you're gonna end up replacing anyway.

jrap1243 10-10-2007 09:29 PM

Re: 2000 civic si engine swap question (doood)

well what else is there to do besides turbo even if it isnt bolt on? i mean i need some more info on the mods for the b16 and if im going to have problems with a h22 swap if i do decide to do it

look up h2b swap if you want an h22 since you already have a b-series

Re: 2000 civic si engine swap question (jrap1243)

There's a DVD from Omni that describes how to get a 200+ whp b16a naturally aspirated, I believe.

Sample vids here: http://www.youtube.com/profile...unetv

If you want to do it, it's possible, but it's going to cost a lot more than your proposed budget.

For $2000 - $2500, you can make a home made turbo kit that will easily get you past 200 whp.

Why are you so reluctant towards boost? As long as you get it tuned by a professional tuner, it'll be solid.

man, I'd like to know where you're shopping. my bill was about that much for a complete jdm gsr swap with lsd s80, and that was an average price... +1000 for 98+ itr, bah!

Frozen E 10-12-2007 12:14 AM

Who the hell quoted you $5-10k to get your B16 up to 180-200hp? https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmileo.gif

Re: (IslandSi)

so is your b16 in your car your the origional motor with green vin tags matching serial number to your vin?

if not then dont even worry about using that block, if you want naturaly aspirated pick up a ls or gsr short block (no head) and start building that like 11.5/12-1 comp pistons, forged or not, pick up a cheap ass gsr/b16 head have it like head games / rlz/ whatever porting company work over the head, pick up some cams, intake manifold, tb, clutch, etc etc, obd1 conversion, p28, hondata, nice header, and then drop that block and head into your car and use your motor mounts, engine harness, axles and tranny.

if its the origional motor with matching vin to your car and you want to boost it and push some good power, pull your motor out of your car, put some forged pistons and rods in it, put some type r cams in your head and aftermarket springs/retainers, a edelbrock intake manifold and bigger throttle body, and a storng clutch then turbo the biotch

if you just want to be cheap and fast then go ahead and slap some turbo kit together and push 250whp EASY if not 280-300

if you wantsimple down time and some great power pick up a ls/gsr short block, forged pistons/rods, then put that in your car with your head, type r cams, edelbrock intake manifold etc etc, your tranny, obd1 hondata and a turbo setup and push 400whp
