2000 Civic Si CAI in a 97 dx hb? Cut a hole in the fender well?
My friend's 2000 civic si CAI goes through a hole in front of the fender well. I don't have this hole in my 97 dx. Did anyone else cut it out? Encounter any problems? Thanks.

You have to cut the hole. Isn't the intake manifold shaped different so that an Si CAI wouldn't fit?

Yes you do have to cut it. I reccomend buying a Type R AEM cold-air intake, if you don't feel like cutting. The previous owner of my car cut it, and now I have a Type R AEM CAI, and the hole looks really stupid....you can tell it was done by hand

Yeah, get yourself a Type R CAI. It goes down into the fender, but from it goes in the area near the bottom of the radiator.
Plus - the piping is bigger than a Si CAI.
Anyways, it's not going to hurt your car to cut a hole above the fender well. I'd just find a nice grommet though, so it doesn't cut against the CAI. (that's if you chose to do this)

Type R CAI will work on a b16? Is the throttle body the same diameter?

The tb might be a little smaller, but believe me...it'll work. I used the Type R CAI on my d16z6 engine for a short period. Hahaha...you just have to tighten the bracket down more....BTW: I didn't feel any power increase at all by doing this...but it DOES fit. The SOHC VTEC engines don't flow enough air for it...
