2000 Civic LX - Squeak or whine in brakes
I'm not sure if I'd call it a squeak or whine. It's not the normal squeak when brake pads are low. It sounds more like an air whine kind of sound (if that makes any sense).
When I first get in the car, the brakes make this sound when they're pressed. If I press them all the way down to a stop, the sound stops.
And it only does it when I first get in the car. The sound stops after I drive it for a while.
It's a pretty loud whistle/squeak sound though, so I'd like to try to figure out what the issue is.
I'm not great with cars, but with some guidance I can usually fix the issue.
I appreciate any help, and feel free to ask any questions that might help me explain the issue.
Thanks!

You will have to jack the car up, remove wheels and inspect what's going on. It may be something simple or major. Good luck and be careful. Make sure the car is on jack stands when you're working under the car.

I haven't had a chance to jack it up and take a look. I should be able to this weekend.
But I have a little more info on the noise. It sounds more like air going through a pin hole or something in a rubber boot. Not so much a squeak like metal on metal.
It does it when I first get in the car and start moving. Only does it the first couple times I apply light braking. Then the noise goes away.
The brakes seem to be working fine. Haven't noticed any change in the pedal.
Could it be a something as simple as a little hole in a boot or something? But not sure that would explain it going away after a few minutes.
Hopefully I'll get a chance to look around this weekend. Thanks for any advice on what to look at/for!
