2000 Civic EX Coupe - Door Unlock Jammed
Aloha,
I have scoured the forums for a solution to a problem I just had tonight after my father tried to open the door at the exact moment I tried to unlock it (happens all the time). However, this time, it really would not open.
Whether I use the internal power lock switch or the keyless remote to unlock my doors, the passenger lock will open just short of being enough to open the door.
To open the door, I need to hold the lock to the furthest "unlock" position I can get it in, then pull the lever. If I hold the button to the furthest unlock position, let go, then pull the lever, it ends up pulling the lock into an even closer "lock" position.
So, my question now is, is this some sort of latch/rod problem or has my actuator actually gotten too weak/jammed to push the door lock all the way into the unlock position?
I really appreciate any feedback.
Mahalo.

Sounds like a mechanical rather than electrical problem.
Check whether any of the latch rods are bent. Otherwise, the latch may be bad, or needs lubrication as Tony said.

Thanks fellas. Just in case anyone runs into this thread, it does look like pulling the door latch and unlocking the door (at the same time) caused an attachment from the aftermarket actuator to the rod to slip. Therefore, it was not pulling the lock latch tight enough to unlock it fully. It was fixed by readjusting the position of the attachment.
