2000 Civic Ex Coupe Door Harness Question
Hi there Guys and Gals. I have a 2000 Civic EX Coupe.
Just about a couple of days ago i lost all audio in the Driver side door, the Speaker and the Stock Tweeter. At first it was intermittent, when i would open the door at a certain position it would cut off and come back on when i closed the door. the power window switch and lock switch still work on that side so i can likely believe the speaker wires have come apart.
I can only say now I've deduced it to the harness coming from the fender area into the door after using a Multimeter to see if i was getting any voltage to the speaker wires and checking voltage from the head unit itself. i got speaker voltage from the head unit but not the wiring in the door.
So my question is the harness coming from the fender area part of the dash harness or is it part of the floor wiring harness? im sure i could repair just the wire but I'm thinking that it would be better to replace the harness completely just in case any other wires are planing to break apart.

Re: 2000 Civic Ex Coupe Door Harness Question
I checked the drivers door, the wiring looked fine but I took it apart and redid the wiring just in case. the wiring inside of the door to the actual speaker wasn't getting voltage. That's where I checked from the head unit itself to see if maybe that side had stopped working from the head unit. I was getting voltage. I will have some time today to actually take a look at the harness coming from the outside of the door to see if any wires came apart.

Re: 2000 Civic Ex Coupe Door Harness Question
one day i was sitting near my car and noticed black smoke in side the car
i rushed in... alarms was not working!!
barely opened the door with the key and disconnected the battery.
i had a short in the passenger door harness few wires broke, few days before i noticed the door speaker cut off...
i ended up striping the harness and just soldering the wires together.

Re: 2000 Civic Ex Coupe Door Harness Question
So I fixed it up today, I took a trip to the junkyard and cut off an external door harness. I then de-pinned the wires that i wanted to move over to my existing wire loom on my civic. I then pushed out the old broken contacts and replaced them with the one i got off the junkyard harness and soldered them together. Everything is working.
FYI to remove the contacts you need to stick a small flat head to lift up the white tab at the bottom of the connector, then using a small flat head you push out the connectors from the front to the back.
