Default o2 sensor check engine light stays on

my check engine came on. i checked the code. and it was the o2 sensor. I replaced it and the light stays on. I reset the light too but still goes back on. Do i need to do a drive cycle and wait for it to turn off?

yes it showed o2 sensor bank 1 which is the closest to the engine. when i took out the old o2 sensor 3 of the wires were exposed and the exposed wires were touching each other. do i drive the car til it goes off or was it suppose to go off right away?

umm you should be able to clear it away by just taking off the neg batt terminal and putting it to like the fender or i use the middle bolt of my suspension or you can use the computer thing that reads the ECU to clear it. the first way is usually what people do. Did you get a NEW o2 senor or like a used one from somewhere like a junkyard or something?

that is what i did. i took off the battery negative and left it there til i finished smoking which is about 3 mins. still came on. i unplugged the ecu and it still came on. i bought a new o2 sensor DENSO oem just like the original for 189.99 plus tax.

ahhh! someone help me out here..lol just kidding. But seriously i have no idea why it wont turn off. Go to advanced and check the codes again, because i had to do an o2 sensor on my obd2 car and i just reset the computer like you did and mine went right off so. Go to advanced auto or auto zone and have them check it for free because i dont think it was throwing one code. Did you check them yourself by your CEL flashing or did you do like whats stated above?
