2000 Civic DX hatch blinking CEL
Noob on board...
Recently w/ all the rain we've had here in NH, my car seems to sputter after a long rain storm. CEL flashes and then stays off and car seems to "come into it" after driving a few miles and when it's sunny it acts 100% normal. We've had 2 solid weeks of rain here and this morning on my way to work (2 mile commute) it sputtered like it has been for the last couple weeks, the CEL started blinking but then stayed on... I'm not sure what it is, because it runs normally when it's dry out but is a totally different car when it's raining or wet. This problem is relatively recent and doesn't really coincide w/ any recent repair. I'm the original owner and it has 188,500 miles and has always run flawlessly up till now... any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Jay

Re: 2000 Civic DX hatch blinking CEL
It's not during start up, it's actually a few minutes into my morning commute. Is this still the "communication" of the code? I originally thought that this was the case and I started counting the flashes... they are not the same from day to day. Sometimes there are 5 or 6 and other days there are as many as 13. Today the light stayed on (which hasn't been the case in the past). It's also only a problem (running poorly/sputtering) when it's wet.

Anyway you are sucking in water? I think your getting water onto some sensors, maybe the o2 sensor is getting water on it.

Problem is, there has been no "incedent" recently where I would be taking on water in the engine compartment. At first I thought I had bought bad gas (which was / is the way the motor is acting ) and I put some dry gas in... no help...
It could possibly be a sensor getting wet, but I'm not really sure how I would even check something like that...
