jack up the back of the car. Take of the 2 lca screws. Then put back with the lower tie bar. Its a 5 min job.

Re: 2 part lower tie bars for 99 civic (cwf1988)

yep lca= lower control arm. If your looking at your car from the back, follow your lca to the subframe (center part) and you will see the bolts that hold on the lca. Just take out those 2 bolts and then your in there.

So why waste your time? Just a heads up, they do nothing. I have been down that road and opted to go with asr/itr combo https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Lmao, you think your shiny new ASR is going to do much more than his ebay tie bar? Don't get me wrong, ASR is a nice product, but I wouldn't expect worlds of difference between that and the ebay one.

Umm, the asr subframe brace is a reinformcement for the subframe so I do not tear it out due to the large sway bar.

So yes I do.

PWNT.

Fucking A dude, you really do not know what you are talking about. The eBay 'tie bars' are so damn flimsey you can literally grab them while they are mounted and they will wobble (same goes with the strut bars.) So if you even used the ASR brace, it would serve a much much more greater purpose then the eBay bars.

Heim joints serve little purpose and/or function at the ends of 'tie-bars'--it is not a place that you'd want a point of additional flex or possible movement.

Ebay specials have much less torsional rigidty compared to the ASR or even the comptech one-piece. Period.

Plus, the asr isn't a tie bar. It may act like it, but it's main purpose is too prevent tear out.

if you can do it w/o the car jacked up and have enough space then i suppose you can. Either way will work, but aligning the holes back up on the inner part of the rear LCA can be a pain-in-the-ass.

i'll post some pics later...i just installed mine last weekend.

No, actually, I do know what I'm talking about.

I am aware that the ASR brace connects with the subframe in four places. I know what it's for, and I know what it does. Whether or not its a difference you can feel is what I'm talking about.

Coincidentally, someone made a thread in here just the other day reviewing several suspension parts, the ASR brace included, and they said they couldn't feel any difference.

I should've probably been more clear in my post, but then again you should probably learn to read, what I said was, you will not feel worlds of difference between an ASR and an ebay one, probably because its a pretty useless item to begin with if you are getting it for performance reasons. Don't get me wrong, the ASR is good for preventing subframe tearout as you said, but if you are looking for something that will make a difference you can feel, I would take that money and spend it elsewhere.

1. jack up the rear of the car
2. remove LCA screws

3. use a jack to help line up the LCA hole

4. tighten it with a torque wrench and enjoy your new bling.

I see where you are comming from, however, you are comparing apples to oranges. The asr brace is not a tie bar. If you want a good upgrade to your suspension, the asr/itr sway is an excellent choice.

Eran 01-01-2007 12:17 PM

I had ebay special front and rear ties. They each had a specific purpose.

Rear Tie Bar: Look Ugly
Front Tie Bar: Hit Speedbumps
