2.25 or 2.5" for single cam boosting later

im swapping my exhaust when i put in my jdm d15, which piping would be better, would 2.5 be too much for an na d15? does it make a difference when i boost?

Re: 2.25 or 2.5" for single cam boosting later (vsm98civic)

Yes, 2.5 is way too much for a D15.

I had 2.25" on my stock Si..... D15 boosted try 2.25"

Re: 2.25 or 2.5" for single cam boosting later (egb18turbo)

mixed opinions...
how much louder will 2.5 be?

Re: 2.25 or 2.5" for single cam boosting later (Art In Motion)

both will be loud no doubt (add resonators), but my friend has a 14b boostin y7 stock and once he got a 2.5" exhaust on, it felt that there was power loss and so he wants an e-cut out (compared to open down pipe obviously lol)

2.5 NA or boosted.

Spade proved this to me with his dyno numbers. 126whp with intake, header, exhuast, intake manifold

2.5 should be fine...no sense in buying a 2.25 then buying a 2.5 after you boost. I have 2.5 on my D16 and plan on boosting it. Runs fine NA right now.

Re: (H23 EG Hybrid)

what about the muffler, is any one running boost with an es oval? i just want something clean and not too loud but is it too restricting for turbo?

T-RO 08-08-2004 01:23 PM

boosted d16z6 w/ jdm d15 head
2.25" mandrel bent from cat back
"cherry bomb" muffler as a resinator
Unknown brand muffler
I give my setup a https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif Its not too loud. It actually got really quiet once I put the turbo on.

I have a 2.25 on my d16z6. 2.5 will gain bottom end but lose top. u dont have VTEC so it doesnt really matter for u. both will be ricy haha resinators help...mine broke randomly while driving...sounds crappy. Good luck

im sorry to tell you this but you have it backwards
the smaller the piping the more low end you will have
because the backpressure helps low end tourque https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

ok im goin with 2.5, can someone answer my question about the muffler?

Re: (Art In Motion)

For boost definately 2.5 inch, as for the muffler make sure it is 2.5in as well

harwood39 08-08-2004 03:58 PM

Re: (CivicGSR225)

Why would you want to put a resonator on it? I dont have a resonator on my Civic EX. I have 2.5 cat back mandrel bent into a mangnaflow muffler.

Im going with 2.5" on my similar set up

Simple SOHC 08-08-2004 07:32 PM

I've got a twin loop...hella quiet. Only time it gets loud is when you go stomp on it. Mine would be a little more quiet if I were to run a HF cat...but I have a test pipe and it does just fine. Have yet to be pulled over or anything.

w0w sooo sexy....
im running 2.5 inch under the gas tank (one bend), and im planning to turbo my lil d15. as stated earlier no use in getting a 2.25 then upping it when u turbo.
ive been pulled over once, but no tickets, jus a warning. not too loud, but really loud when u gun it.... my verdict is https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif 2.5
