2.5, along with a header with a 2.5 inch collector

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by civicsareslow &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">why 2.5?</TD></TR></TABLE>

because its biger then the 2.25" and along with a 2.5" collector header, will give you a good flow.

i say 2.25 if it is stock and maintain stock
2.5 should only be used when you got cams

i probably will build it a bit later in the future, so will there be a big power loss if i get 2.5 over 2.5 for an all motor set up?

not really, but if you do get 2.5 you will lose some low end, because you don't have the cams to support it

I got 2.25 on my civic with b16a and its built and I still love the 2.25 dont want to go really any bigger atm...and cams can get pretty pricey depending on what stage you get

might as well just go 2.5,
because then you can mod away without having to worry about upgrading your exhaust AGAIN later on.

But if you plan on staying with a stock motor, and just boltons,
i'd really say just stick with 2.25

at least thats what I think

well now this all depends on goals. 2 1/4" should be plenty to flow any mildly modded gsr engine. I read somewhere thats this dia is good up to 180whp.

If you go 2.5" then you will lose low end power, regardless of the cams. it simply gives up more low end flow velocity, exhaust dia is all about compromise. You may be able to fuel tune some of that low end back tho.

I can see using the 2.5" to tie in with a 2.5" collector header (you don't want to down step), but these headers are meant to go with serious other mods.
