Default 2 1/2" cat back on ex too big?

just wondering if a 2 1/2" cat back exhaust is too big for a 95 civic ex? has intake, no header. and cat. would it still provide enough back pressure? and would it run too lean at WOT? thanks. the engine is a d16z6 by the way.

It will work, but alot of people go with the 2 1/4 also. Do you plan on doing any major head work, or increasing compression? If not, then go with the 2 1/4.

2-1/2 is too big. Most people don't go that large unless they are going forced induction. In that case you typically want 2-1/2 or 3". You would be better off to stick to 2-1/4 or 60mm.

it's too big...you need some back pressure for NA. 2.25 is where it's at.

werd. IMO 2 1/4 is almost too big for a D16Z6. way too big for a non-Si or Ex

2.5 inch piping is usually for B or H series all motor cars.

I thought 2.25 is best for SOHC NA engines and 2.5 and up is for DOHC engines or Forced induction engines.

2" is actually the ideal size for 1.5-1.6 engines. But 2.25 is popular, because it works better with nitrous and heavy porting. But they don't make 2" sizes so 2 1/4 is fine. There's not much a difference anyways.

Yea, 2.5 is def way to big. I would look into somthin more along the lines of 2 3/8 - 2 1/4. Also about that NA needing backpressure post. On a honda engine, you do not want backpressure. You want a good flow velocity but the goal is to eliminate all teh backpressure you can.

well like everyone esle said go with 2.25. Personally I like the 2.25 and thats what I have on my D16Z6 engine. Sounds great also. But later on donw the road with new engine. It will be upgraded to 2.5. Hope this helps

ok, i just bought a apex n1 for my hatch, bought from a guy that had it on a 94 teg gsr 4 door.... somebody told me it would fit fine...well it is way too long axel back. i can easily modify it to fit my car, or it fits her 4 door civic perfectly.. i measured the inner diameter.. it is only 2 1/4" inside... i am going to be boosted 10psi.. would that 2 1/4" inner diameter be too much flow if she had stock manifold and a cat on it? i think i might just no risk modifing it and hook her up, then buy a 3" cat back... what do you think
