2" exhaust piping or 2.5"? Which is better for an ls motor?
I am in the market of getting a custom made exhaust piping at a shop, my question is should I go 2" str8 pipe or 2.5"? I will have DC Sports 4-1 headers str8 pipe to either my current Magnaflow exhaust(looks stock) or and aftermarket exhaust. BTW it's for a 00ls motor, some internal work, and probally stayin NA.

i have 2.5 on my civic with a d16 it sounds great i would suggest going with the 2.5 but thats just my opinion, it should allow for better flow with less back pressure anything bigger than 2.5 would be to big unless your planning on going turbo

lol, that's for real. Get a 2.25". Great midpoint for sound and power on an N/A engine (not that it really gives you much). Go with 2.25", then get a nice tasteful muffler, ie: not a TURBO APEX'i N1. You're gonna want some backpressure, or, like the guy said before me, you'll LOSE power.

my 00 si ran better 1/4mile times with stock exhaust than a 2.5 exhaust. The bigger exhaust just made it fall on its face like it lost a little power

If you're doing internal work you will want a 2.5. Also if it's custom make sure it's not crush bent, you want mandrel bent.
