1st gear thud
YES, i used the search before making this.
my friends been using my car the past few days. he likes to think he can drive like me and nothing bad'll happen. today he gets in and says he ran over something with my car on the freeway. says all it was is the freeway level changes and he ran over that and now my car makes a thud in 1st gear when starting out.
so i go look at my car and jack it up. i pop the hood and i got oil on the driver side wheel well. take a look under and things 'look' ok except for some the oil pan bolt looked like it had some oil collecting on it now and scratches to the bottom of the tranny. i lower it and go for a drive. 1st gear when adding gas at low rpm/speed feels like the axle is 'jumping' (driver side). front end up, the wheels spin freely by hand and with the car on in gear spins freely and feels fine, just going down the street.
any input helps a lot. i'd like to try a few things before swapping a new axle or telling him he needs to replace my transmission
96 cx, d16, lowered by prev owner drove fine until this.

Re: 1st gear thud
ive replaced the driver side engine mount when i got the car cus it made a sound/feel like that n the rubber was trahed. im actually thinking the tranny mount may be bad now that u mention it. the oil pan shape actually looks pretty ok.
im up looking for camber kit and a good motor mount set today
