Problem: driving home the other night I experinced my check engine light come on and in lost the speedometer well. Now two days later and an alternator and battery I still dont have it fixed. I have a code computer that is tellin me a code P1298 wich is the elecronic detector is reading a high imput and I keep blowing the 7.5 amp fuse related to the alternator and speed sensor. Can anyone help me out?????

There was a problem on earlier model Civic's where a wiring harness that is routed underneath the intake manifold rubs against it and causes a short, blowing a fuse and giving the problems you are describing. But I also thought this was fixed for the 99-00 model years....perhaps not.

So if it isn't shorting out where I'm talking about, then it's just shorting out somehwere else. That fuse is responsible for all things you've listed.
