1999 civic si valve lash
ok long story, i heard some slight ticking from the valves so... its time to do a valve lash adjustment. well, i have no time with my job so i decided to let the... "pros?" at the local honda dealership do it. BIG MISTAKE. took it in the first time and they adjusted them to the wrong specs, they were so tight my car threw a code and was running to lean, it also was stalling and idling very goofy. get this, they also left a wrench in the engine bay, and left the power steering fluid resivor off the bracket!!! so i took it back and complained a little, well the next day they decided to fix it, but the car still seems not quite right, it almost sounds like its missing occationally and still doesnt seem to idle quite like she used to. i think my gas milage has also decreased. do you guys have any suggestions or maybe have had the same problems after you have adjusted yours. this is the last time i take it in, back to doing it all myself...
54,000 on my engine
as for engine mods i just have a dc ss 4-2-1 header, aem short ram intake with home-made air ram to feed it, thermal cl ss cat back, ngk blues, irdium plugs

Re: 1999 civic si valve lash (michaelmezz)
Sorry to hear about your car, that's gotta suck really bad. Around here (where I live), some dealerships do not want to mess with any car that's been modded. It seems like as if they're against doing that kind of **** (manager wise). As much valve adjustments that they have done, they shouldn't have messed up, period. It almost seemed like it was purposely done, or maybe not. Whatever they did, they sure did a half *** job.
As for your car goes, I would do what SkoundrelUSA suggested and buy a feeler gauge to check it yourself. If it was driving fine before they TRIED to fix it then, it's definitely something they did.
I had a bad experience with the dealership once, and I'll never go there unless I'm just buying parts.
