So i have a 1999 civic lx four door, no mods, 150,xxx miles. i was driving it recently when the speedo just shot down to zero and stopped working. then at the same time the tranny began to act wierd, and d4 started flashing. felt as if it wasnt shifting properly, and wasnt going over 3k rpm. if i put it in [2] it would drive fine for the most part except it wouldnt go over 5k. if i put it in [D3] or [D4] it woudl drive very slow and accelerate very slow, especialyl from a stop. then i pulled over to get gas, and when i went to start my car it wouldnt start. every thing seemed as thought the battery was dead- however, i got a new battery, and after a day of driving it died again and my car sputtered to a halt (the tranny was still acting up this whole time and d4 was still flashing).

i went to a honda dealership, and the jackasses said its something wrong with the tranny, and isnt worth fixing. I am almost certain it is something electrical. does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? why would my battery stop charging at the same time?
