1999 Civic EX Turbo Setup Questions
Hey guys, I've actually been a Honda guy for a very long time even though this is my first post on Honda-Tech. I started with a 1991 Honda CRX DX and put in a B16A back in 1998. I now own a 1999 Honda Civic EX and its a DOG.... Forgot how slow these things were stock.
I want to do a semi-low budget turbo set up on it. I know I need the turbo kit and larger injectors and somehow need to get the computer to put in more fuel and be able to adjust timing and what not. Back when I played with Hondas ( read OBD0 ) We all went to Hondata for an ecu and started programming that. Are they still a player with the newer hondas? Can I re-flash my stock computers like we do in the performance Diesel Truck world?
I want to push no more than 8-10 PSI just to give our toy a little more snap when you ask for it.

Since nobody's responded...if you do a little searching you'll find that Hondata is hugely popular...it seems to me that they are more of an expensive route to take...

I wouldn't waste my money on Hondata especially for only 8-10PSI from a small turbo. u should go eCtune or neptune. Just get a P28 with a OBD2-OBD1 Conversion harness for a couple hundred and get it tuned. Either that or you could go with a EMS since your going to be running low boost on a stock motor. You cant reflash an OBD2 Computer (at least on Honda's).

so what are you guys doing to pass emissions with an obd 1 ecu?
my emissions place will try to use the obd2 port and im positive that this port will not communicate with their machine resulting in a fail.

Re: 1999 Civic EX Turbo Setup Questions
well, to legit pass emissions here i had to put the stock injectors back in, stock obd2 ecu, and disconnect a charge pipe...which isn't too bad every two years.
but, if you're only running a little bit of boost, you can run an afc and injectors up to about 450cc and use the "afc hack" to lean it out. this isn't the best way to do it, but you'll still pass emissions, and i think it's the only way to keep the stock ecu and boost.
