1999 Civic EX - no start w/video
'99 Civic EX, 163K. It has been maintained adequately.
Since it has been warming up here in Indiana, I noticed that my civic has been taking a bit longer to start up and it finally progressed to a no-start condition over the last two days. After cranking a bit, I can come back to it 20 minutes or so and it sometimes starts. The temperature may not have anything to do with it because it was in the 40's this morning and it didn't start.
1) I have swapped the main relay with a new one.
2) The lights and everything seemed to work ok, but I have tried a jump start as well.
Here's the video:
Thanks in advance,
Chad

99 ek hahaha my cousin had one turned out to be the coil, if you have spark it can be the icm ignition control module, which can be tested at autozone, if yours fails have them pull a good one from the back and test it, ive had the connecter they used to test my icm to be faulty before and run bad on all icm's then take it to another autozone, if it test fine then you have fuel problem, no pump running or siezed

Well, it turns out that it was just the battery. The battery was a bit over 5 years old. I did try a jump this morning but it resulted in the same behavior as seen in the video. Not sure why? When I wired up the battery from our Odyssey into the Civic later this afternoon, it started up immediately. I then knew my battery had to be replaced. I got a new one in it tonight. Looks to have been the culprit. I'm not sure why the jump this morning did nit work. The old battery tested 12.6 volt as well when under no load.

volts any battery volts can be good. but what you need are amps. that is why cars have fuses with different amps and when you're turning over the engine the battery can't supply enough amps to everything else except the starter. hope this made sense to you
