Ok, First I searched here there and everywhere.......

I have a 1999 Civic 4dr that I just got and it needs a radiator and other repairs. The antifreeze removed was a blue / green color (more blue than green). I need to install the radiator and add antifreeze to test drive this car and then remove all of it it do some body repairs and paint work. So here is my concern: Is the blue color the correct stuff? When I had my ITR it had red stuff in it (although I do not know if it was right, but it did run for years that way).

I am pretty sure the blue stuff is the Honda Type 2 after researching a little. Is it compatable with Type 1 (if it was called that). I really do not want to mix antifreeze unless I know it is compatable and I do not want to do a complete flush just to have a temporary radiator in for a day. I have the green stuff and the red stuff in my shop now but am concerned about using them even for a day and contaminating the system.

By the way, please dont tell me how awful I am at searching...... I already know that, and please dont tell me antifreeze is antifreeze........ I already know that is not true either.

just buy honda brand, it starts out blue and turns green as it gets older

if it is honda type-2 then yes it is compatible with type-1, and i wouldn't use anything other than honda coolant, personally.

If your going to drain it....get the Newer Prestone stuff....that is guaranteed to work with all types of anti-freeze.

I used it in my dads car (Hes got a lexus) because he just was topping it off before we changed the radiator...

had it in 2 months, never an issue.

I use whatever advance auto has on sale, never had a problem with their green but that's in warm/hot south Florida. Make sure to spend the extra couple bucks and get a new radiator cap

You can still get the green stuff here in NB, not sure if you can in AB. My local dealership actually doesn't carry type 2 for whatever reason.

Just use distilled water if you're just using a temp. radiator for a day... Just don't let it freeze.
