Default 1998 d16y7 hatch with Y8 intake mani problem

I just swapped a d16y8 intake manifold onto my d16y7. i follow this DIY
http://www.d-series.org/forums/diy-f...swap-pics.html

I have done everything right. Rechecked many times. It drives fine but will randomly sputter between 1000 rpms and 1500 rpms. At idle while driving prefect it will idle at 800-1000 rpms. But when this problem starts it idles at 1500 rpms. When takes off while this problem is going on its like im hiting the gas and letting off like 5 times in 3 seconds but im not. After 2000 rpms it doesnt sputter like that.

I shut the car off while its rolling and start it back up and it drives fine. I cant seem to figure out the problem.

Also when the problem is going on when i let off the gas in gear it really jerks. Shut the car off and start it back up and it doesnt do that jerk, And drives normally. Anyone have any ideas? I was thinking a sensor but i have no clue what it would be.

What Y8 manifold did you use 96-98 or 99-00 (take a pic if you're not sure)?
Any check engine lights?
Reuse the Y7 throttle body?
Replace throttle body and intake manifold gaskets?

The intake came off a 96-98 auto.
Check engine light for secondary o2 sensor
I did reuse the y7 throttle body
I also replaced both intake manifold and throttle body gaskets.

Did you reuse the Y7 throttle rotor?

did you bleed the cooling system enough, an air bubble might be up by the IACV on the TB and causing it to fluctuate. Other than that, check your MAP and TPS connectors and make sure they are connected properly (of course Honda, you chose to use the same connectors THERE) and try spraying carb cleaner around the IM or TB gaskets to see if there is a vacuum leak.

OH...did you plug the vacuum port on the back driver side of the manifold. It is used for cruise control (unless you are using that).

wrong y7 uses the same iacv auto or manuel (3 wire) so unless he's using a y8 ecu it makes no differance and the auto manifold works better because you don't have to block off the port for the 2 wire iacv.

i had the same problem with mine i just fixed it tonight. are you running the y8 injectors because if you do you have to use the y8 injector clips. even if you mod the y8 injectors to fit the obd1 clips you will still have the same problem because the wont sit far enough down on the injector

CEL codes?

Have you cleaned the IACV?

When the idle is high and fluctuating, remove the air intake system and then use your finger to cover the hole inside the TB leading to the IACV. Does this cause the idle to drop and steady?

I used the y7 injectors because if you use the y8 injectors you will run rich.
Only cel i have is for a secondary o2 sensor. Tried cleaning the iacv but didnt help at all. I had the same iacv on the y7 mani and it idle and everything fine. Ill start putting my hand over that hole.

how tight did you tighten the nut for the throttle blade ? any chance you bent the shaft ? when you put the y8 rotor on it ?

I just tighten it by hand and then a little i mean A LITTLE with a rachet. Brand new throttle cable bracket from honda.
But like i said it doesnt happen all the time. Just randomly and normally when it warms up. But i shut it off and start it back up and the problem is gone.
