Hey guys, Ive just ran into some trouble (not major) with my keyless entry/alarm and interior light on my car. I drive a 1998 Hnda civic LX (4dr) and just recently my altinator went out on me. My alarm and interior dome light worked perfectly up untill I started noticing my lights going dim on my car (about 2 weeks before my altinator finally went out). I since then replaced the altinator and the car runs perfectly once again but the keyless entry/alarm and my door activation for my dome light dont work (basicly when you open the door the light doesnt come on. BUT you can manually turn the light on and off and it works) I was almost certain it was a fuse that had blown due to the low voltage but i checked all the fuses. none of which have a clear indication of being blown. Also none of the fuses are noted to be for keyless entry or door activation dome light. I dont know which fuse controls either of those. Also if there is anything else that I might need to look for please let me know and if anyone knows exactly which fuses and where control these items in the car please let me know.

*My car is completely stock wiring wise, stock everything in that department.

your keyless entry is built into your oem radio, and the dome light circuit from your door passes through the radio. its possible you have internal damage to these components. also did you check your fuses with your eyes or with a meter? sometimes our eyes lie to us, see where im going with this? on to the dome light. there is a lt. green/black wire and a lt. green/red wire that you must jumper together if you change the radio out for aftermarket. so use the meter to check these wires also to make sure there is a complete circuit through the radio. also all of your keyless/domelight wires are in a green plug on the back of the radio, however its power requirements are still pulled from the radios main harness. hope this helps.

now that you mention it. That makes perfect sence. I hooked up XM radio only a few hours b4 they went out. Ill check that when I get off work. Thanks.

I checked the fuses with my eyes.... I kno of those hairlike cracks that occur under low voltage that our eyes cant see. I was going to replace the fuses anyhow but I didnt kno which ones to replace.

well, maybe you just left the green plug unplugged from the back of the radio then.

thats exactly what happened. I plugged it back in and 'BLAMO' everything works again. Thanks alot for your help.
