Default 1998 Civic Ex Coupe Suspension Problem, Help!

Hey fellow Honda lovers. My magnificent 87 si died so i was forced to get something more reliable. I picked up a great 98 EX coupe and i realized after jacking it up to rotate tires that the springs have been heated and compressed to make the car lower. How safe a method is this? What parts would i have to purchase to get it back to stock height or an inch or so lower than stock, im a bit short on cash. Les Schwab wants a thousand to put new springs, adjustable control arms, and control arm bushings or something like that. Could i pickup something used and have them put it on? Any ideas, my car expertise does not go beyond the engine. Thanks
