I just went to look at a car today. The guy said it was a 98 ex. But it had a 99 front end. Were there any 98's built with the 99 front end? I'm suspecting the car has a salvaged title but he said it's clean. The guy seemed a little pushy when i was infront of the car. Like he was trying to divert my attention.

He just got a 99 front end conversion thats all. ALOT of people do it with the 96-98 civics. Get a carfax before you buy the car to see if its been in any major accidents.

car fax is a good idea, but it doesn't show you everything. when i first bought my 2000 civic ex, i didn't really know much about hondas, and i ran a carfax and everything was clean.... but now i'm noticing that my car has dx fenders (darker than the first of my car ) and missing a few clips in my back bumper which makes it kind of hang

...so i'm left clueless of why my car has fenders from a different car, why my bumper is missing clips, and some other stuff too but i don't feel like typing it all out

so to answer your question, maybe he did have a conversion, maybe he didn't. you won't know, but to be a bit safe, run a carfax

I'd be careful as it sounds like it's been in a front end collision, and the reason being the conversion is maybe he new someone or found the parts off a a wrecked 99-00 that was hit in the rear or something. Do you think he just converted it for no reason? we're talking the hood, fenders, headlights, grille, and the bumper would all have to of been changed.
