Default 1998 Civic EX + $6500 = ?????

I just picked up a COMPLETLY stock coupe and am going to roll stock for a little bit, but i want to swap it.

I'm looking for something to DD on, so no "built" motors or turbo setups...

Will be retaining a/c, so H22 isn't an option.

$6500-7000 is all i have to spend on the complete swap.

I live in mississippi, so it doens't matter if it wont "bar".

You should be able to do a K swap for sub $7000. That means you're gonna be doing all the swapping and work lol.

I'd do it not only for the motor but for the knowledge/experience.

well your still a noob so a k20 is out of the question...drop in a ITR motor and leave it bone stock....that should cost anywhere from $3500-5k...depending on the deal that you get on the motor.

No, he's a noob because of what he says. He says he has $X and a stock EX coupe and he comes on here and asks us what he should put in his car.

I would recommend the OP do some research and figure out which swap fits his needs the best. It's not just as cut and dry as "Buy this swap, it's the best."

he's a noob because he's coming on h-t askin what to do with 6500.

personally, i'd swap in a b18c5 motor for give or take 4000 and put the rest to suspension/brakes/tires etc. cause having power does you no good if you cant put it to the ground or be able to stop.

my .02

We're not tryign to be smartasses. You could be a little more grateful.

We're just trying to tell you that there is a LOT of information out there already. This thread is made almost daily. You are not the first to have a '98 EX with some money to spend on a swap.

Your realistic options (look all of these up):
- Turbo D-series
- B16A (Si, VTi/SiR)
- B16B (CTR)
- B18B (LS)
- B18C1 (GSR)
- B18C5 (ITR)
- B20B (CR-V, Orthia, etc)
- B20Z (see above)
- H22 (Prelude)
- K20 (EP3, DC5)
- K24 (Accord, CR-V, Element, TSX)

So there's what you're going to prtobably want to look into.

umm i did give you a suggestion. so explain to me why you just called me a smartass little *****?

no offence, but if you werent a noob, you wouldnt ask for suggestions. you would already know what motors stand higher on the podiem(sp) then others.
