1997 Civic SRS Reset - blinks three times after reset procedure
This is for Honda Civic. I am trying to reset the SRS after fixing the seat buckle and replacing the battery (code 8-5). I went through the SRS reset process with a paper clip, however, the SRS light blinks three times instead of two at the end of the reset procedure and the SRS light does not clear.
Would appreciate any help.
P.S. Sorry for a similar post on another forum.

Re: 1997 Civic SRS Reset - blinks three times after reset procedure
Thanks for the reply. The Honda dealer diagonized SRS DTC code as 8-5 code and recommended to replace the battery as it was on its last leg. Just a note, the seat buckle was replaced under warranty as it was not working. I bought the battery at samsclub and try to reset the srs light. The issue is the SRS light blinks three times instead of two at the end of reset procedure. Any idea why it blinks three times? Does 3 blinks means SRC control unit needs to be replaced? Thanks again.

If you jump the service connector rather than reset the SRS computer, do you still pull code 8-5?
Is this the procedure you are using to reset the SRS computer:

Yes. I am using a two wires connected to MES connector to reset the SRS. Per instruction, it says the srs light should blink two times ( it blinks 3 times for me) and also SRS light does not go away on starting the car. I will do jump service connector to read the codes later today and update this thread.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: 1997 Civic SRS Reset - blinks three times after reset procedure
Would appeciate if you could assist me in identifying service check connector for 1997 civic. The connector I found ( see pictures) was just below the dashboard on passenger side (across the cup holders) attached to the metal plate. Furthermore, it looks similar to MES connector ( yellow in color, with two grey wires). However, I was not able to pull it out from the socket. Before I put more effort to pull it out, I would appreciate if you can confirm if this is the actual service check connector which I can short to read srs codes.
Pictures.
Thanks

The 2P service connector is located behind the passenger kick panel just above the ECU. It may be plugged into a rubber holder. Click the codes link in my signature.

Was able to read the codes using Service Connector. It is continuously throwing 8-5 codes - looks like it needs a new SRS unit. Thanks.
