Re: 1997 Civic SI: Jerky throttle and IACV CEL
A 97 Civic has an OBD2 ECU and throws corresponding OBD2 codes. By jumping the service connector, you retrieve only OBD1 code versions that are often less informative than the OBD2 codes. In particular, there are two separate OBD2 IACV codes that fall under OBD1 code 14. If the CEL turns on again, take your car to an auto parts store that pulls codes with an OBD2 code reader. Post the OBD2 code that is retrieved.

Before you responded I already pulled everything apart...
Turns out my iacv was blocked off.. with a piece of aluminum coke can
I couldnt pull the code with a scanner.... It said link error everytime...
I have 2 ek's and it worked fine on my stock one... The one having problems is turbo running hondata s200.
replaced the sparkplugs...
And put everything back together and it has been running fine ever since....
Drove it like 50 miles today.. and it has been fine..
Codes are gone too...
If my iacv was blocked what do u think caused the code??

That's the thing... I didn't remove the block off...
I put it back together after cleaning the tb really well and installed new spark plugs..And didn't change anything..
To clear things up the valve was purposely blocked off by cutting a piece of a coke zero can in the shape of the valve and then mating the valve to the tb with 4 screws going through the coke can..
I really should have took a picture my eyes were so baffled seeing a coke can in there!!

Well since the car is turbo and is running fine, and these engines are known for iacv problems... I figured why not leave it blocked off...
My hondata already compensates for the cold start idle...
I imagined it was blocked off for a reason.
I could take it off and see if it runs ok I suppose...
