you don't want a core support to have the frame rails attached to it, yours are fine. smooth your existing apron out, much easier than a cut/replace. don't make this harder than it needs to be. remove the old core support, install new, paint, done.

If it's been hit, then there's signs of damage. The boxes that attach the bumper support wont be flat, the top of the core support will have creases and bends, and also in the headlight cavities.

Drill the welds off a used support. Drill the spot welds off your damaged support. Put the used one in place temporarily with some bolts and nuts. Leave off the bumper and headlights. Take it somewhere and have them weld it. If the used one is a different color, spray paint it. Hold out for one that is a matching color. No big deal.

I'm holding out for a black one. My current one has signs of damage, but everything is surprisingly straight except for a few bolts on each headlight.
