I have a 1997 Civic EX sedan Auto Air and over the last two weeks I have had a problem with my RPMs dropping for a momment and hence a loss of power.

There seems to be no consistantcy in when this happens--sometimes the engine is cold, sometimes hot, sometimes it wont do it, sometimes it does it back to back.

Im trying to source this problem without dumping big $$$$ into this car.

The last time it did it I was able to hold the gas pedal steady and watch the rpms drop from 2000 to 1000 then it would "catch" and rev back to 2000 then cut off and drop back to 1000 rpm, this continued for several cycles. My speed was at 40 km/h.

If I gun the car it runs like a charm, this problem seems to happen when holding the throttle steady.

Im still trying to figure out what maybe causing this erratic rpm response.

This is what is new(er) on the car.

IACV
Air Filter
Fuel Pump
Fuel Filter
Plugs
Wires
Cap and Rotor

I have read through many posts and Im thinking TPS maybe the cause, unfortunately I have only been able to price it out as a whole Throttle Body for $1000+ bucks.

Im going now to check coolant level....

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
