Default 1997 Civic Dx Hatch exhaust question

I've got a question for all of you out there. I was driving yesterday when all of a sudden, my engine got so extremely loud it scared the hell out of me. Pulled over, checked and all my belts were fine, oil fine, etc. Took it home and put it up on the ramps, and found that my exhaust pipe is completely rusted in two. I can't pinpoint the exact location in terms of part wise, but it's where the real long pipe clamps to thr shorter one going into my exhaust manifold.

Looking at my maintenence records (car was owned by my grandpa, dad, and cousin before me,) the car has had four complete exhaust replacements. One at 11k, 38k, 50k, and at 77k. It has 88k on it now, is that normal? :/

My question is, should I go replace it again, oem, or should I just replace the whole exhaust system? I was lookin at magnaflow, but if it's had this many replacements already, I don't wanna waste my money. What are your suggestions? Thanks!

Do you park in grass? Does the car sit much (with the mileage that's on it, it would almost have to) both will severly shorten the lifespan of the exhaust.

Yeah I was gonna replace it, I'm asking if I should go oem or performance for quality.

It did sit much, my grandpa bought it and then gave it to my dad when he got too old to drive. My dad passed in 04 and my cousin got it, and rarely used it while at college. I got it in September and it had 82k miles on it, and since have put 6k on.

If it's not going to sit OEM won't be an issue.

Every car I've owned I eBay'd the full exhaust and they all lasted well. Get a 2.25 exhaust with a silencer. Will run you $150-200 for no name brand
